Appraisal Management Companies order all the same types of appraisals you have completed in the past.  In Michigan your primary appraisal services will most likely be for Refinance and REO – Real Estate Owned appraisals.  But you might find some vendors work primarily for non-mortgage transactions such as in divorce and bankruptcy cases.

I especially enjoy REO appraisals since the fees are usually larger than a standard refinance or purchase transaction due to the additional REO addendum that is required.  Another reason I enjoy REO work is that more than 75% of the time they are vacant and I can let myself in at any time when provided with a code to a lockbox.

If you are not getting a large number of estate appraisal requests, make sure to read the additional chapters included in the book regarding getting more estate work.  It is a fairly simple process and since many appraisers do not focus on this type of work, you should be able to obtain quite a bit of orders this way.
